IMEC: A Grand Vision Still Incomplete
The India-Middle East-Europe Corridor, known as IMEC, was designed to reshape the trade routes of the twenty-first century, much like the great caravan routes once did. Linking India to European markets via the Gulf, Israel, and Southern Europe, this ambitious project aims to offer an alternative to China’s Belt and Road dominance. Yet, as it stands, IMEC remains an unfinished masterpiece. It lacks an essential dimension: an opening to the Atlantic. Without this extension, the corridor risks becoming just another Eurasian axis, rather than the true backbone of a renewed globalization.
